FRASER VALLEY COUNCIL COMMISSIONER’S ADVENTURE AWARD

GENERAL COMMENTS

The award is open to all sections and consists of a special windbreaker badge, featuring a navy blue mariner’s compass and a white background, accompanied by a “Certificate of Achievement” from the Council Commissioner.  The certificate and badge are presented to each participant and the group.  This award is not a competition.

Here’s How to Earn This Award

  • This award is designed to keep the “OUT” in Scouting and therefore, applicants are advised to plan their activities around the outdoors.

  • It is suggested that the projects be started early in the year, as it is never too early to start thinking about an Adventure trip!

  • Adequate planning is essential to any trip and Adventure trips require special care and attention to ensure plans are efficient and complete.

  • Groups should contact their Area Commissioner when considering this award to ensure the appropriateness of planning and, using the application form, receive approval of their plans.
  • At the conclusion of the Adventure, forward the scrapbook/log/report to your Area Commissioner, within a three (3) month period.

  • The award will then be forwarded to the Council Commissioner where it will be reviewed and approved following the recommendation of the Area Commissioner.

NOTE:

For your presentation of crests, letters and certificates to be made before the end of your Scouting year, your pre-adventure approval application form (see sidebar for individual sections) should be submitted before December 1st, and you should allow four (4) weeks (April 30th is a good date) for your completed project submission to go through the approval process. The completed project submission will be reviewed and approved by the Council Commissioner upon the recommendation of the Area Commissioner.

Refer to the section specific criteria and have a great time with YOUR ADVENTURE!
