Oil Spill Clean-Up Experiments

Scouts worked on determining how to clean-up an oil spill. Oil was mixed into water, and the scouts used different materials to try to contain and clean-up the oil. Scouts learned that most of the oil floated on the surface, and was containable with absorbent strings and yarns. To clean up the oil, they experimented with various towels, trying to separate the oil from the water, but found cotton balls worked best to absorb the oil, while leaving water behind. Discussion around how to apply to real-life wrapped up the review.
